Last week, eLife announced its new Editor-in-Chief. This week, an unofficial new “foundation” was launched in support of the eLife preprint curation model.

One stirred up barely a ripple, while the other needs its balloon punctured.

Both seem committed to the flailing preprint review model that robs editors of authority, gives companies and authors powers to manipulate content for commercial purposes, and reflects what Yuval Noah Harari calls “naive information theory.”
