OA and a Trained Imagination

Open Access Week is having a "sad" because advocates had inadequately trained imaginations from the start

Open Access Week isn’t so much a celebration this year, but a realization — one that is pretty grim so far.

The past couple of days have seen various advocates rise to the task of defending OA — and their essays do feel defensive, which is notable. Even so, these “celebrations” only reveal how much the mask has slipped.
