Octopus Is Ridiculous
Spending £650,000 of taxpayer funds to generate 3 research results? Misleading users about authorship? Disabling scraping and copy/paste? Yes, Octopus is ridiculous.
When Octopus was launched last summer, JISC promised it would be “ground-breaking” and ensure “fast, free and fair publishing of research that is open to all and focuses on the intrinsic quality of research.”
But it turns out the entire thing is a ridiculous boondoggle.
