Russian Scholarly Propaganda
Authors are identifying themselves as Russian even if they are in Ukraine
Propaganda is defined as “the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person — ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one’s cause or to damage an opposing cause.”
A preprint posted last month suggests that one form of Russian propaganda about its 2022 invasion of Ukraine is being planted via scholarly affiliations for scientific meetings, academic authors, and journal editorial boards.
