SSP Rates and Funder Discounts

SSP's rates are making people wonder, so I took a closer look

The wires have been a little hot this past week after the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) rolled out its “Early Bird” rates for its Annual Meeting in Baltimore this May.

I finally decided to take a look, and now I can see why.

First, there are the rates overall, which as someone who hasn’t attended an SSP meeting in years strike me as rather high, with regular admission for non-members well above $1,000, and admission for members not far off.

Then, there are the year-over-year increases — both the amount and who bears the brunt.
